Wiesels Beautiful signs bring a smile to the faces of visitors and passers-by

A fantastic idea: Instead of everyday, often purely functional signs, "Signs of Instruction for Well-being" can now be discovered around the LUDWIGGALERIE Schloss Oberhausen and the adjacent Kaisergarten until the beginning of May 2026. This art project by Oberhausen artist and graphic designer Klaus Wiesel, with its interplay of art, humor, and everyday observations, is sure to make visitors and strollers smile, reflect, and linger.

A sign in a garden reads “Thinking of loved ones!” with an icon of a person and a thought bubble. Behind it are trees, flowers, and a pink building with white-framed windows.

RuhrKunstus – An educational project of the RuhrKunstMuseen
Supported by the RWE Foundation
term 2024 – 2026

RuhrKunstbewegt is an educational project of the 21 RuhrkunstMuseen, supported by the RWE Foundation.

The network of RuhrKunstMuseen develops with RuhrKunstus once again an educational offer for children and young people who grow up in financial poverty and whose social participation is impaired by disadvantageous living conditions. The participants get to know the museum as a new place of experience and expand their skills through creative forms of expression. Approaches and formats of museum education and communication are expanded in an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral manner: approaches from theater, dance and music complement museum offers in order to offer children and young people a variety of activating approaches to art and culture as well as self-efficacy and independent acquisition of learning content and working methods.

Over three school semesters, children and young people of different age groups and school types can take part in several consecutive workshops in order to find their own approach to art.

From Oberhausen Castle to the Europahaus – the ArtOthek is moving!

After the speciesOthe library opened its doors for the last time for lending in the castle, the big move is now in full swing. With a tear in one eye and a smile in the other, the LUDWIGGALERIE bids farewell to the ArtOthek from its old location and is looking forward to moving to the city center. The opening of the ArtOThe library will take place in the Europahaus. Before that, the listed building on Friedensplatz will be renovated.

Various concepts are intended to make the area an attractive and sustainable place for creative exchange. Interested visitors will be able to browse for works of art in the Europahaus and borrow them for a small fee to beautify their own four walls or office. With the move, the LUDWIGGALERIE will also gain a prominent location in the city center. Large display windows not only provide insights into the continuously expanding inventory of artOThe library is available for borrowing. Numerous new exhibition formats and workshops are planned for a diverse urban society. The opening hours will also be extended and, in addition to borrowing art, will invite visitors to "take a look", exchange ideas and participate. After the opening, visitors can stop by at Elsässer Straße 16 on Wednesdays from 18 p.m. to 13 p.m. and Thursdays from 19 p.m. to 17 p.m.
